Busy November

It seems that I have exchanged Thanksgiving for midterms. Did that come off a little bitter? Sorry, I may just be a little bit peeved off the trade off. I probably shouldn't be. Sophia gave us a five day weekend not more than two weeks ago. Yet, I find myself feeling very nostalgic for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

This week started pretty slowly, but it is quickly picking up velocity. For example, tonight I am going to have dinner with my study abroad adviser. She is visiting the different Universities in Tokyo this week, and has invited all of us currently studying in Tokyo out to dinner. Her treat. How can I possibly refuse?

Tomorrow I only have one class. If I was smart, I would use the time after class to start preparing for my midterms. I'm not that smart. I was invited to an aquarium. Have I mentioned that I love animals? Did someone really think that there was the slightest chance that I would turn down the chance to visit an aquarium? Plus, there was the whole fact that this visit was planned more than a month ago. And, when I am great about thinking about time schedules in, say, year increments it turns out I am much less proficient at thinking in time schedules in month increments.

So, then I have a pretty free Thursday. Except, not really! Because I have a midterm on Friday, a group presentation I have to prepare for (it's due Monday, but I'm meeting with my group on Saturday), and a paper that due Monday too. Oh yeah! I also have three, count them, three midterms in Japanese. Mmmhmm, somehow I am taking more midterms than I have classes. I blame Japanese. But, seeing as I came to Japan to, you know, learn Japanese I should probably learn to suck it up and study. So, if anyone wants to talk to me this weekend-good luck. I will have been sucked into the black abyss that is called studying. Which coincidentally is also my apartment. Which doesn't have internet. So, I will be off the radar for most of the weekend.

If it crosses anyone mind this weekend "wonder what Kyra's up to". Have no fear, I am not having fun without you. I am most likely sitting at my desk with my nose to the grindstone or else coming up with devious ways to avoid studying. Because, as everyone knows, there can be no studying without a decent amount of procrastination. Or maybe that's just me. You know, that might be how I got into this predicament to begin with....

Anyone have any useful study tips to give me for these incoming two weeks?
What are everyone's Thanksgiving Day plans?

  1. The only study tip I have involves the 4-letter word WORK.

Since neither of us is all that fond of turkey, Mitch and I are going to try our luck at cooking duck or goose this Thanksgiving.
