Station to Station

So, it happened. I finally got a phone! It's a little prepaid thing, but I'm shocked with all the features. I have to buy a new card every month, but it's only about 30 dollars. It was pretty painless when I had the right paperwork with me, though the employee didn't speak any English. So, it was another test of my skills in Japanese. Which didn't turn out too bad- I got most of what he was saying.

After about half an hour, it was time to leave Shibuya for Shinjuku. The dorm mate that was with me wanted to pick up some art supplies at a shop there. So, after looking at the map, we took two different trains to Shinjuku. It was pretty easy to find the art shop, actually. But, it was only after we got there that the shop was actually closer to a different train station. One that would require only one train. Oops. We know better now. But, the art supply store was really cool. Lots of stories. Though, I'm starting to feel like all of Japan's stores are made of multiple stories.

Then it was lunch time. See how much of a problem this is becoming? School really needs to start. Anyway. We found another udon shop, and ate super yummy udon (again). Something I've become aware of is that most restaurants here have you serve your own water. Whether there is a pitcher or a tap, there is always a station in the restaurant with lots of cups. Just something to be aware of.
This udon had orange zest in it, so it was especially delicious.
Next, we walked around Shinjuku for a little bit. There was a sign claiming that there was a BookOff near by, but we couldn't find it. We saw a lot of video arcades again, though we didn't go in. There also seems to be this weird phenomenon of  plastic food that's displayed in most shop windows. I'll have to take a picture of some next time. When the hunt for the BookOff proved to be unsuccessful, it was time to return to the dorm. Classes start tomorrow, so it's time to plan ahead!
