Snow and Lights

Day three of Sapporo finally found us at the snow festival. When we started walking to the festival, a small snow storm decided to drop a bunch of snow on us. Now, two of us come from Colorado and if it had just been us we would probably have turned back and waited for the storm to pass. But, the third girl was from Arizona and had never seen a snow storm before. So, we bundled up and trudged through the snow. Brrr!

The snow festival took up several blocks, and was filled with different snow sculptures. Some of the bigger ones were extremely detailed. Though, it was harder to tell until the snow stopped falling. There was also tons of food in the stalls surrounding the sculptures. And, to keep warm I kept on buying hot drinks.

In between visiting the snow sculptures and the ice sculptures, we went to dinner. There is a type of cuisine here in Japan called shabu shabu. And consists of a stock being boiled at the table in which you cook vegetables and meat in. I must say, out of all of the food we ate in Sapporo, this was my favorite. The meat was sliced so thin and tender, extremely delicious.

Then, we went to a different part of the festival to look at the ice sculptures. They are a little hard to figure out what they are in the pictures, but they were really cool to see in person. We didn't spend so much time looking at these sculptures, partly because there was less of them than the snow sculptures. Partly because we needed to get back to the hotel and get ready to go to the airport the next day. So, to wrap up, here are some of the last few sculptures we looked at.

Hope everyone else is having as many adventures as I am!
